Ciao, e benvenuti at the brand new Academia Barilla blog!I am Leigh, and I am one of the Italian Culinary Specialists on staff at Academia Barilla in Parma and in the States. However, don’t let the stodgy title fool you – I’m a down-to-earth fellow with a true passion for gourmet Italian food and its rich tastes, traditions, and history.

I welcome you to this new blog, and my frequent installations, where I hope to share the knowledge, joy, and passion I have for gourmet Italian products.

Together we’ll discover what makes the Italian culinary tradition so famous worldwide – from analyzing traditional Italian food products like Prosciutto di Parma, real Parmiggiano-Reggiano cheeses, or traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena to understanding what terms like Extra Virgin, D.O.P. and D.O.C. mean, and more.

My goal with this blog is to threefold: to educate my readership about the glorious culinary traditions of la cucina italiana, to promote traditional and regional gourmet Italian food products, and, most importantly, to bring about a greater understanding of how a lot of gourmet Italian foods are made.

After all, isn’t that what being an Italian Culinary Specialist is all about?!

Please take the time now to add this Academia Barilla blog to your preferred blog-reading platform, or to add us to your bookmarks / favorites in your web browser. Check back every few days, as well, for another great lesson on Italian food from me and from the other Academia Barilla fellow bloggers.

A presto!
